ST. PAUL, Minn. – Several tea party leaders announced plans Thursday to form a national federation to promote the movement's conservative message and to counter the idea that the tea parties are politically unsophisticated and disorganized. Tea party leaders from Memphis, Tenn., Richmond, Va., and Orlando, Fla., along with representatives of several other groups announced the new National Tea Party Federation during a rally outside the Minnesota Capitol. They said 21 tea party groups around the nation had joined the federation. Memphis Tea Party founder Mark Skoda said recent media coverage had questioned whether the conservative tea parties, which number in the thousands nationwide, were too loosely organized to be politically effective in the national midterm election. He said the federation intends to convey a unified message about the tea party's brand of fiscal conservatism, which emphasizes limited government, less public spending and free markets.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas announced this week that as long as illegal settlement building continues they would not negotiate with Israel and instead consider going directly to the United Nations and other international bodies for recognition of an independent Palestinian state in the territories occupied by Israel since 1967 (West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem). Harshly criticized by the Israeli government, the newly-announced Palestinian strategy comes in the wake of the most recent round of negotiations, which ground to a halt as Israel refused to extend its partial moratorium on illegal settlement building. GUESTS: Ambassador Maen Areikat is the PLO Representative to the United States in Washington D.C. He previously served for eleven years at the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the PLO in Ramallah, most recently as its Deputy Head and Coordinator-General (2008-2009). Omar Dajani (Moderator) is a former Palestinian negotiator and former Political Advisor to UN Special Coordinator Terje Roed-Larsen. Dajani is a law professor at McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.

I am happy to report that he NFL and the NFL Players Association have agreed on a deal and the lockout is over. It was announced that only on game will be cancelled- the NFL Hall of Fame preseason game on August 7th between the Bears and the Rams has been cancelled. All other preseason and regular season games will be played. Teams start reporting to training camp as early as this Wednesday and all teamss will be in camp by Sunday. So bring on your thougts, comments and pridictions. Lets Talk Football.

10/17/11--13:00: One cop charged with death of Aiyana Jones is not justice - Oct 17,2011 (chan 2896654)

The shooting death of 7-yr-old Aiyana Jones seems to have faded from some people’s memory but a new development in the case was announced earlier this month on October 4. In a press release, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced that two people had been indicted in the case where 7-yr-old Aiyana was shot through the head when Detroit Police raided her home searching for murder suspects. Black Talk Radio spoke to Pastor Omar Wilkes, a New York City activist who helped organize a group and protest in Detroit shortly after the death of Aiyana Jones to get his reaction to the indictment. Wilkes believes that the U.S. Justice Dept must investigate and that other officers were involved and should be charged.
